Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. Do authors lose the right to commercially use their images or multimedia files?
No, Huellas Incómodas / Uncomfortable Footprints only authorizes non-commercial use of images. This means that authors never give up their right to license the images to for-profit organizations. The intended use must also be specified in the download process. Authors can track who uses their images, for what purposes, and if remuneration or donation seems justified.
2. How can the authenticity and origin of the images be verified?
The Huellas Incómodas / Uncomfortable Footprints team is responsible for the preparation of the images. Photos, videos, and audio showing inaccurate facts are flagged in this process and resolved if necessary. Submitters are encouraged to provide meaningful captions and keywords.
3. Do photographers lose the rights to their images?
No. By default, all works on the site will be marked for free use for non-commercial purposes only. In this case, the publication will be under the Creative Commons BY-NC-SA license. Unlike the free publication (CC0), this license protects a large part of the author’s rights, for example, that of parallel commercial use.
